Vetenskapsrådet.se is the leading governmental research funding body in Sweden. Their webpage focuses on posting funding projects which scientists can apply to and track. I worked with them during my time at Futurniture as Lead UX designer and Lead designer.
Their old webpage had never been built based on the need of the users and was not usable nor user friendly. Our mission was to identify their users, their needs and how we could build a better and simpler experience for them to apply for funding and track their funding.
Funding for scientists is a very challenging and information-heavy area with a lot of governmental regulation on how it can be presented from case to case. My biggest challenge was to build something that both new and seasoned scientists could adhere to and at the same time present them with a cohesive solution.
I worked with conducting user interviews and defining our users and from there prototyping customer journeys which I tested and iterated upon to create an easy and seamless solution. I came to the conclusion that we had to work with the client to change their mindset of thinking inside-out and have their content based on the need of the users which gave the users a more effective way of working with their applications.
We measured the users interactions and conducted interviews to validate the product and reiterated on areas to refine the final product and make it even better.
